Carlow J1s suffered another loss on Saturday at faraway Longford. Longford scored two penalties in the first half against Carlow’s one from centre Ritchie Whyte. Ritchie got a chance to bring the score to 6 all early in the second half but the ball sailed wide. Instead Longford worked their way up to score an unconverted try. Carlow, minus a number of first team regulars through injury, pressed hard on the heavy pitch but errors at crucial scrums and lineouts meant that they came away from the Midlands empty handed.

The Oakpark team now have a break from Leinster League action until January 8th next when they face a crucial match against Tullow.
