Coyotes Win Cup Tie
Carlow Ladies Win Cup Tie
The good story of the Coyotes Carlow Ladies Rugby team moved on another chapter on Sunday when they won their first round match in the Leinster Ladies Cup. In an away game against Clondalkin, a team in a league higher than them, the Coyotes scored a 22 pts to nil win. The Carlow tries, one in the first half and two in the second, were scored by Maureen Young, Jenny Ardill and Emer Byrne. Two were converted by Ailbhe O Nolan who also scored a penalty to add up to the 22 pts.
Coach Joe Bulmer said that when Carlow spread then ball out wide Clondalkin were unable to stop them. In contrast when Clondalkin attacked they were stopped by magnificent Carlow defending.
The Coyotes were formed at the start of the 2011-12 season by an amalgam of Carlow Rugby Club and Carlow IT. Already they have secured a trophy this season as winners of their league section.
