Posted on October 17, 2016 in , ,

Carlow under 13’s went down  31-17 this morning to Tullow in glorious condition at Blackgates. Carlow dominated the early exchanges but coming up short at the crucial time. Tullow then scored ther first try totally against the run of play, this was followed shorty after, with another converted try to put Tullow 12 points to  the good. Before half time Carlow got there reward when a turnover lineout led to man of the match for Carlow, Aidan O’ Brien crashing over in the corner. The second half was evenly balanced and Carlow continued to dominate the lineout possession but were turned over in contact area. Only for the defensive work of Fiach Brennan things could have been a lot worse. As Carlow began to tire, Tullow ran in three tries in the space of 5 minutes  leaving the game beyond Carlow. With a few minutes remaining and some positional switches made, Carlow started to move the ball freely and that man Eoin Townsend turned up again with a 60 metre dash to score the second try. From the kick off the score of the match came when Eoin Connoly burst through the Tullow defence and then some great hands led to Josh Darling scoring under the posts which Kyle Nolan converted. When the final whistle blew the boys felt they had let one behind them in what was a very enjoyable game to watch. Next match at home to Arklow
